Our focus…
The American Taekwondo Association has continually strived to stay the leader on the cutting edge of family-friendly martial arts; from our SHARP program for women’s self defense and Kidz ‘n Power Child Safety to ATA Xtreme (based on XMA) and Integrated Martial Arts Systems. So, when our Taekwondo family comes to us and says ‘what do we do about the bullying situation in our community?’, we look for the very best curriculum to offer. And that is what we have found. Based on the research from the Olweus Bully Prevention Program, an international leader in Research Based Bully Prevention studies, the American Taekwondo Association has built a program designed to help your child understand the dangers of the most common issue that children face every year. This program is geared toward knowing how the cycle of bullying works, how not to contribute (actively or indirectly), and how to defuse or avoid situations in which bullying occurs.
What if…
So, what if the way we’ve always learned to deal with bullying (like ‘ignore them and they will go away’) actually made it worse for our kids? What if you found out that indirect bullying, such as cyber bullying and social exclusion can do as much damage to your child as physical altercations? And what if you found out that these types of bullying can cause anxiety, depression, low self-esteem... Some are even showing that students that are bullied or abused by their peers are more and more likely to bully those deemed to be ‘weaker’ than them.
So, what if you found out everything you knew about bullying was wrong?
Empowering Children…
ATA’s Kidz ‘n Power Child Safety Program has a new branch, and this we just can’t bring ourselves to wait for a twice a year clinic. Kidz ‘n Power Bully Prevention is a new, innovative, and exciting part of our everyday curriculum. We believe that, with the help and support of our community, we can make a difference in the lives of our children. We encourage you to come visit us today, and talk with one of our instructors on how our Bully Prevention Program is changing the environment of our schools.
We were surprised at the statistics, and so will you. Come in and visit with one of our instructors, they will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
